Henry Ford Health will offer free mammograms for eligible patients this week to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event takes place Thursday, Oct. 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brigette Harris Cancer Pavilion located at 2800 W. Grand Blvd in Detroit.
Uninsured patients are welcome, and transportation is available for those who need it. Patients must register by calling 313-874-3095. If you get a recording, please leave a message to be called back.
“Regular screenings are very important because we know that early detection saves lives,” said Dr. Christine Joliat, a breast surgical oncologist at Henry Ford Health. “We know that the earlier we catch a breast cancer, the more options we have for your treatment, oftentimes the less treatment we have to do overall to adequately get rid of the cancer. So early detection saves lives, and mammograms save lives.”
