Helen Mirren to Receive 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award

Dame Helen Mirren will receive the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Golden Globes announced on Wednesday. The actress and producer will receive the honor at the new, previously announced primetime special Golden Eve, where the organization will honor recipients of both the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett Award. The special will air on Jan. 8 at 8 pm. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+. Golden Eve will feature in-depth interviews and career retrospectives for the recipients of the two special awards, honoring people from the movie (DeMille) and TV (Burnett) business who have made lasting contributions on and off screen. Viola Davis and Ted Danson received the 2025 DeMille and Burnett awards, respectively. Mirren’s credits include The Queen, The Madness of King George, Red, the Fast & Furious franchise, Gosford Park, Trumbo and Hitchcock, among many others, and her decades-spanning career have earned her various accolades such as an Oscar, five Emmys, SAG, BAFTA and a Tony Award. She was also appointed a Dame of the British Empire in 2003. The Cecil B. DeMille Award was created in 1952 and honors the titular filmmaker. 69 honorees have been awarded the honor, including Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey. The Carol Burnett Award was created in 2019 and is “presented to an honoree who has made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen,” according to the organization. “Helen Mirren is a force of nature and her career is nothing short of extraordinary,” says Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.” The Golden Globes will take place on Jan. 11 and will be hosted by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser. Dick Clark Productions is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge that also owns The Hollywood Reporter.
