Heavy rain lashes Krishnagiri district; Collector inspects inundates areas

Heavy rain lashed Krishnagiri district for the second consecutive day on Sunday, and District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar inspected the affected areas.

Many parts of the district received heavy rain on Saturday evening. Following downpour in Krishnagiri town at midnight, rainwater stagnated at various places, including Rajaji Nagar, Mullai Nagar, Palaiyapettai, and Dharmaraja Kovil.

At Rajaji Nagar, rainwater entered more than 20 houses and the residents moved to the terrace. Two-wheelers and cars parked on the streets were also flooded.

After the rain stopped in the morning, people cleared the water from houses. Likewise, the service roads along Salem-Bengaluru National Highway were under sheet of water and commuters found it difficult to travel. The municipality workers pumped out the water on Sunday morning.

Due to water stagnation at Krishnagiri bus stand, passengers were forced to wait outside.

District Collector Dinesh Kumar inspected the rainwater removal works in Krishnagiri town along with municipality and revenue officials. The Collector instructed officials to remove blocks in sewage channels and to distribute food to people in areas flooded by rainwater.
