Miami Heat star guard Tyler Herro sent a warning to the NBA after undergoing surgery ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.Herro was dealing with foot and ankle pain throughout the summer, ultimately deciding to have surgery to deal with it. He earned his first All-Star selection, a positive sign of things to come for him and the Heat.Herro’s sixth NBA season saw him finish with averages of 23.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game after 77 appearances. He shot 47.2% from the field, including 37.5% from beyond the arc, and 87.8% from the free-throw line.Despite his growth as a scorer and shooter, he took a step back during the Heat’s first-round playoff series against the 1-seed Cleveland Cavaliers. The Heat need a reliable scorer they can turn to in big situations, and he currently stands out as that player when he’s fully healthy.With Herro out to start the year, the Heat will look to Bam Adebayo, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jovic, and Davion Mitchell, among others, to step up. Miami has remained competitive as a play-in team for the last two seasons, but after trading Butler this February, its floor and ceiling might prove to be lower than before.Miami will begin its preseason with a home matchup against the Orlando Magic on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET before playing five more contests.
