Health Department Launches Messages Of Hope
The Department of Health has launched its Messages of Hope digital campaign to mark Mental Health Awareness day on 10 October.
A Government spokesperson said, “Running from 25 September to 19 October 2025, the campaign invites the public, schools, businesses, and community groups to create and share uplifting messages or advice- either illustrations, videos, text, or songs- that provide encouragement to those struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, or suicidal thoughts.”
Kim Wilson, Minister of Health explains: “The Messages of Hope campaign is about more than words, it’s about changing how we view mental health. By sharing encouragement, we reduce stigma, remind people they are not alone, and build a stronger, more compassionate Bermuda.”
The spokesperson said, “Entries can be shared on Facebook and Instagram using #WeAreNotAnIsland and tagging @departmentofhealthbermuda. Four winners will be chosen in the categories of individual, school, business, and mental health organization, each receiving $250.00. If you post on behalf of an organization, please mention the organization in your post or tag them. The winning business will donate its prize to their mental health charity of choice. Winners will be announced at the end of October.”
Minister Wilson added, “This initiative reflects the Government’s commitment, outlined in the 2025 Throne Speech, to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and improve how we engage with our community on such an important topic.”
