It’s not uncommon for the children of Bollywood legends to pursue careers outside the film industry. While the nepotism debate continues to stir conversations in Bollywood, movie buffs never miss a chance to compare iconic parents and their children, from acting talent to striking looks. The Hindi film-making industry has often witnessed the children of the legendary stars having a short-lived career in Bollywood. While some have departed from the film business, a few others have taken up other roles, such as direction and production, to sustain the legacy of hailing from these critically acclaimed families. To join the list of Bollywood actors who haven’t reached the heights of their accomplished parents, including Fardeen Khan (son of Feroz Khan), Zayed Khan (son of Sanjay Khan), Esha Deol (daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini), and others, is Kamal Kapoor. Kamal Kapoor has been counted as one of the reigning supreme actors for decades. The maternal cousin of Prithviraj Kapoor and the uncle of Raj Kapoor is known for a career spanning over 500 films in Hindi, Punjabi, and Gujarati. Kamal Kapoor, whose career began in 1946 as a hero in Door Chalen, later found significant success as a villain in the 1960s and 1970s. He appeared in many villainous roles in films like Aag and Don. Although he enjoyed a highly successful career in Bollywood, his son failed to do so. He tried his luck and had to depart the industry after only 4 films. But do you know who Kamal Kapoor’s son is? Kapil Kapoor stepped into Hindi cinema as a director. He is also the brother-in-law of filmmaker Ramesh Behl (known for hits like The Train, Kasme Vaade, Jawaani, Pukar, and Apne Apne) and the uncle of Goldie Behl, the producer married to actress Sonali Bendre. Kapil Kapoor didn’t pursue acting as a career initially. However, he had no other choice after hailing from a filmy family. Unlike his legendary father, Kapil entered Bollywood as a director. He was part of four films altogether. He produced Khel Khel Mein (1977), followed by his appearance as an assistant director for Pukar (1983). Afterwards, he appeared as a director for Yeh Vaada Raha (1982) and Chor Pe More (1992). The films didn’t achieve huge success, which led him to later direct several television shows and finally depart from Bollywood.
