HBO's 'War' Adds Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, Honor Swinton Byrne

HBO and Sky’s upcoming legal thriller series “War” has added a slew of stars to its cast, including Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed and Honor Swinton Byrne. The first installment of “Lupin” creator George Kay’s new series — which stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller and has already been greenlit for a second season — follows “two of London’s most prestigious rival firms, Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne, as they go head-to-head in the divorce case of the century,” according to its plot description. “Each side is certain they’ll win. But as the case spirals and loyalties fracture, reputations are on the line, and everyone’s playing to win. This is just the beginning — Season 1’s explosive case is the first in an anthology of headline-making legal battles.” In “War” Season 1, West plays tech titan Morgan Henderson while Miller is Carla Duval, his estranged international film star wife. Newly revealed cast members include Imrie (“Better Things,” “The Thursday Murder Club”) as Budgie; Mohammed (“Slow Horses,” “Ted Lasso”) as Michael Stefanou; Shaheen Jafargholi (“Lost Boys and Fairies,” “The Agency”) as Saeed Masood; Akiya Henry (“Protection,” “Malice”) as Nora Okafo; Rose Williams (“Mrs Harris Goes to Paris,” “Sanditon”) as Flora Monroe; Camille Coduri (“Big Boys,” “Rain Dogs”) as Mumsy Monroe; Aran Murphy (“Klara and the Sun”) as Gabriel; Swinton Byrne (“The Souvenir,” “A Very Royal Scandal”) as Bella Croft; Miles Jupp (“The Full Monty,” “The Durrells”) as David Schill; Kartanya Maynard (“Heartbreak High,” “Deadlock”) as Suzie Levitniik; Alexandra Mardell (“Smoggie Queens,” “The Family Pile”) as Cleo; Mark Quartley (“Inside Man,” “Cursed”) as Fred Templeman; and Steve Furst (“I Fought yhe Law,” “A Gentleman in Moscow”) as Bernard. They join the previously announced Phoebe Fox (“The Great,” “Task”) as Serena Byrne, Nicholas Taylor’s partner in life and business at Taylor & Byrne; James McArdle (“Playing Nice,” “Mare of Easttown”) as Nicholas Taylor; Nina Sosanya (“Screw,” “Baby Reindeer”) as “Her Majesty” Beatrice “Queen Bea” Ubosi, Taylor and Byrne’s fierce rival at Cathcarts; Pip Torrens (“Succession,” “The Crown”) as St. John Smallwood, another Cathcarts rival; and Archie Renaux (“Alien: Romulus,” “Upgraded”) as ambitious lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren. “War” is written and created by Kay and directed by Ben Taylor (“Sex Education,” “Catastrophe”). It’s co-produced by New Pictures (an All3Media company) and Observatory Pictures, in association with HBO and Sky. Kay serves as an executive producer alongside Willow Grylls (“Des,” “The Missing”) and Matt Sandford (“The Long Shadow”) for New Pictures, as well as Taylor, Susan Breen (“The Woman in the Wall,” “Bad Sisters”), Andrea Dewsbury (“I Hate Suzie,” “The Spanish Princess”) and Megan Spanjian for Sky. The series will air on Sky and streaming service NOW in the U.K., Ireland and Italy, and Sky and WOW in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It will air on HBO and HBO Max in the U.S., and stream on HBO Max in Australia and Asia. International sales of the series will be handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
