Hawaii Local Product Makers Invited to Showcase at Winter FancyFaire in San Diego

Hawaii’s local product manufacturers have received an open invite from the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) to set up shop at the Winter FancyFaire in San Diego, an industry event that notches attendance figures upwards of 12,000, as per details released by DBEDT’s latest update. This expo, slated for January 11-13, 2026, at the expansive San Diego Convention Center, is a hub for specialty food makers and professionals to mingle, network, and spot the latest trends.

The DBEDT seems excited about the opportunity for Hawaii’s businesses to present their wares to a broad audience. The Winter FancyFaire, powered by the Specialty Food Association (SFA), puts the spotlight on industry movers—manufacturers, buyers, distributors, and more—over three days of meet-ups and educational panels. There’s the added perk of Hawaii-specific pavilion booths designed to showcase the islands’ finest. An ‘in-line’ booth costs $1,000, while the corner upgrade, offering a bit more prestige, is priced at $1,187. For those on a tighter budget, a half-booth is available for $500. With a maximum of two businesses per shared space, this collaboration could be ideal for smaller ventures.

Application procedures require the completion of the HiSTEP Registration form paired with an SFA Membership Application Form aimed at Tier 1 hopefuls. A spot on an FAQ can be found to iron out any puzzlements. Once Tier 1 status is secured through the SFA’s nod, product qualification looms as the next gateway to Tier 2 membership—and with it, the chance to exhibit at the winter event. Timing is tight, though, with apps and payments due by September 25, 2025. Randy Cortez from DBEDT’s Business Development and Support Division is the go-to contact for pressing questions, and can be reached at randy.j.cortez@hawaii.gov.

The DBEDT has established itself as a central resource for Hawaii’s business community, offering expertise in economic data, energy, trade, and development initiatives. Its mission statement, released by DBEDT, outlines an expansive vision: “A Hawaii economy that embraces innovation and is globally competitive, dynamic and productive, providing opportunities for all Hawaii’s citizens.” The Business Development and Support Division, a key component of DBEDT, promotes industry development and attracts new business investment, supporting the continued growth of Hawaii’s economy.
