Hariharan Pays Tribute After ‘True Soul’ Zubeen Garg’s Death: ‘He Belonged To People’

The music industry is mourning the sudden loss of singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away at the age of 52. Reports suggest that he died after a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors were unable to save him. His unexpected death has left fans and fellow musicians stunned. Veteran singer Hariharan, who had performed with Garg on several occasions, remembered the talented singer for his warm and humble nature.
The veteran singer added that fans across Assam and other parts of the country came together to pay tribute by taking over the streets and singing Garg’s songs in unison. Hariharan described the late singer as a true legend and a special gift to everyone who loved his art.
Hariharan Remembers Zubeen Garg’s Nature And Talent
Taking to Instagram, the singer wrote, “The news of Zubeen Garg’s passing leaves me deeply saddened. He was not just a brilliant singer and composer, but a true soul who belonged to the people. I had the honour of sharing the stage with him a few times, his warmth, humility, and artistry left a lasting impression on me. The outpouring of love from Assam and beyond, thousands on the streets, voices singing his songs in unison, shows how much he meant to his fans. Zubeen Da, you were a legend, a friend to music, and a gift to us all. Om Shanti.”

Public Pays Respects To Zubeen Garg
Zubeen Garg was a famous singer from Assam, known for his songs in many languages. He rose to fame with his Bollywood hit Ya Ali from the movie Gangster, which remains a fan favourite. Following his sudden death, fans showed their love and respect by taking over the streets and surrounded the ambulance carrying his body. Later, people gathered at Sarusajai Stadium to pay their respects, where his body will remain until Monday and the public can offer their tributes.

Zubeen Garg had travelled to Singapore to take part in the North East Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on the day of his accident.
