Harassed By People Posing As Transgenders On Trains? Here's What You Can Do

Indian Railways has introduced a new measure for passengers to avoid harassment from individuals posing as transgenders and demanding money. Passengers can now lodge complaints through the ‘Rail Madad’ portal or by calling 139. In a recent campaign by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Agra Division, North Central Railway, 54 individuals were apprehended for misusing transgender identity to extort money from passengers. The campaign, which ran from October 1 to October 15, targeted incidents of misbehaviour, unauthorised travel, and forced money extortion on trains and at railway stations. From January to October 2025, the RPF Agra Division took action against 303 individuals involved in such activities. During this period, passengers registered 257 complaints on the ‘Rail Madad’ portal, which were promptly addressed. All division post and outpost in-charges were instructed to remain vigilant, conduct regular checks on trains and platforms, and take immediate action where necessary. Passengers were also encouraged to report any such incidents promptly to the RPF, helpline 139, or nearby duty personnel. The RPF Agra Division said that they are committed to enhancing passenger safety, maintaining discipline, and improving railway services to ensure a safe and pleasant travel experience for all passengers.
