Paramount+ has unveiled the first glimpse of a "wickedly fun" new revenge thriller landing sooner than expected. The fresh six-part drama will debut next month on the streaming platform and boasts several familiar faces from television crime shows. Line of Duty's Martin Compston headlines the series alongside Slow Horses and Peaky Blinders actress Aimée-Ffion Edwards, playing strangers Calum and Emily. After meeting through a divorce support group, they forge an unlikely bond with four other broken-hearted individuals and devise a plot to get back at those who betrayed them. The main ensemble also features Shetland's former star Douglas Henshall, Happy Valley's Amit Shah, Mrs Sidu Investigates' Meera Syal, Daddy Issues' Sharon Rooney and Sex Education's Chaneil Kular, reports the Daily Record . Meanwhile, the supporting cast includes Compston's Line of Duty colleague Owen Teale, Vera's Aoife Kennan, The Witcher's Rob Malone, Niamh Walsh, Wil Coban, Christina Bennington and Eoin Duffy. The official synopsis for the gripping thriller states: "The series follows six lonely, hapless strangers brought together by a divorce support group, each reeling from betrayal and heartbreak. "With little in common beyond their emotional baggage, they form an unlikely bond and come up with a wildly misguided idea: to take revenge on the people who broke their hearts. "What starts as a cathartic outlet quickly spirals into something far more chaotic, as their retribution escalates from petty pranks - forged exam papers, tarot cons, and rat invasions - to deadly accidents. "As the group's plans grow bolder, the line between justice and madness begins to blur - and someone might just take things too far. "THE REVENGE CLUB is a wickedly fun revenge thriller that dares to ask: what if getting even felt better than falling in love?" The series is based on JD Pennington's debut novel The Othello Club, with the script written by Gabbie Asher of The Girlfriend fame. Moreover, it's being directed by Tim Kirkby, who previously worked on episodes of the critically acclaimed drama Fleabag, along with Daniel O'Hara of The Red King and Stay Close.
