None of Hampton’s four elections for constitutional offices were contested. Hampton voters mostly reelected a slate of incumbents in local elections. Here are the winners from Tuesday night’s election based on unofficial results. Sheriff Incumbent Karen Bowden was reelected as Hampton sheriff in a new four-year term. The Democrat ran unopposed in her reelection bid after replacing longtime Sheriff B.J. Roberts in 2021. Bowden is the first woman to serve in the role and will continue overseeing Hampton City Jail and Jail Annex, as well as court security and court paperwork servicing. Commonwealth’s attorney Anton Bell won reelection as Hampton’s top prosecutor as the only name on the ballot and will serve another four-year term. Bell, a Democrat, was first appointed in the role in 2012 after longtime commonwealth’s attorney Linda Curtis retired and won a special election the next year. He also ran unopposed in 2021. Treasurer Former City Council member and Democratic incumbent Christine Snead will continue serving as Hampton’s treasurer after winning in an unopposed race. Snead is the city’s first Black treasurer and was first sworn in the office in 2022 to handle the disbursement and collection of funds in the city. Commissioner of revenue In the only race which will see someone new step into the role, Democrat Michael Harris was elected as the city’s commissioner of revenue and will oversee registration and assessment of personal property, business taxes administration and public service corporation tax administration. Harris ran unopposed after interim commissioner Karen Bever opted not to seek the position.
