The spookiest time of year is approaching. From trunk-or-treat with the littles, to a Halloween concert put on by the UL Lafayette symphony orchestra, there's plenty of Halloween fun to be had in neighborhoods and towns across Acadiana. Halloween-themed events are happening across the Acadiana area this week, ranging from a haunted trail in New Iberia, to Halloween with a side of STEM at the science museum in downtown Lafayette. Check out these upcoming events for a dose of Halloween fun at every age and fright level. Acadiana trick-or-treat times Trick-or-treat events often vary by municipality or neighborhood, so if your city or parish is not listed here, please confirm trick-or-treat plans with the appropriate authorities or organizers in your community. Acadia Parish: Iota and Church Point will both host trick-or-treat hours on Thursday, Oct. 30. Church Point hours are 5 to 7 p.m., and Iota is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Calcasieu Parish: The city of Lake Charles recommends that trick-or-treat activities end in neighborhoods by 8 p.m. on Halloween night. Lafayette Parish: Communities in Lafayette Parish will official observe Halloween trick-or-treat hours on Halloween night, Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. St. Landry Parish: Trick-or-treating in unincorporated areas of St. Landry Parish will take place on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. St. Martin Parish: Trick-or-treating will take place Halloween night from 6 to 8 p.m. St. Mary Parish: The town of Franklin will host trick-or-treaters on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Trunk-or-treat events Broussard: 7th annual Trunk-or-Treat at St. Julien Park will take place at the Broussard Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature decorated trunks, a bubble bus, dancing, face painting, fun jumps and a variety of other games and activities, including a costume contest. Duson: The Duson Community Center is hosting a trunk-or-treat party on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Lafayette: The Lafayette Police Department will host their 9th annual trunk-or-treat celebration on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Cajun Field from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Halloween bags will be provided for all children, and there will be police vehicles present from different agencies full of candy and treats. Pumpkin patches Pumpkin patches and other fall events are in full swing across Acadiana. Poche's Patch and Maze is open Thursday through Sunday, through Halloween night, at 930 Guilbeau Rd., Lafayette. It is $10 to enter. Parc de Oaks in Lafayette will host their final pumpkin patch of the season from Oct. 24 to 26, 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free to enter, and features food trucks, photo booths, face painting and other activities. Fright trails Acadiana is home to two Halloween-themed haunted trails geared towards those looking for scarier thrills this season. The Fright Trail in Scott, located at 5305 Cameron Street, features 20 acres of wooded trails open through Saturday, Nov. 1. Ticket prices and other admission details can be found online, and organizers do not recommend bringing children under eight. New Iberia is hosting "Frightmare on Main Street" this year, open on Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 1. The immersive experience takes place on the grounds of an historic home at 924 E. Main St., New Iberia, and admission is $25 per person. Other Halloween activities Halloween Concert at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette The UL Lafayette Symphony presents its annual Halloween concert, where the orchestra members are dressed up and the audience is encouraged to join the fun with their favorite Halloween costumes. The concert will feature a guest appearance by dancers from The Ballet Studio in Lafayette. Admission is $10 for adults and children, and free for all UL students, faculty and staff with current identification. Tickets can only be purchased in person at the concert.
