Actress-entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of the wellness and lifestyle brand called Goop, has expanded her culinary concept — Goop Kitchen — to the Bay Area, using a delivery-only service from ghost kitchens. The menu promises chef-crafted dishes made according to the company’s “clean” standards — with no processed sugars, seed oils, gluten or dairy. The first entrees, bowls and salads were prepared Monday in San Jose, at a kitchen north of downtown that houses 20-plus restaurant concepts under one roof. That 949 Ruff Drive site offers delivery to addresses in downtown, Japantown, Little Portugal, Midtown, Willow Glen, the Rose Garden and parts of North San Jose, Alum Rock, Little Saigon and Fruitdale/West San Jose. Goop Kitchen will expand Nov 17 to Sunnyvale, with orders being prepped and cooked at a kitchen at 1026 W. Evelyn Ave, Both pickup and delivery will be offered. Besides drop-offs to Sunnyvale and Cupertino addresses, Goop will deliver to parts of Mountain View and Santa Clara. Then on Dec. 8, the kitchen will open in San Francisco’s SoMa district for pickup and delivery. According to Goop, it was Paltrow’s Turkey Bolognese recipe that inspired her to expand on the healthful concept. The menu calls it “The dish that started it all. We won’t mess with the OG recipe. The bolognese is braised all day and served with our penne pasta (gluten-free), parmesan and basil.” Current bestsellers include the Father Italian Chopped Salad, Teriyaki Bowl, Chicken Caesar Wrap and the Gluten-Free Pepperoni Potts pizza, the company says. For featured seasonal specials, the kitchen is making a Fall Blackened Salmon Bowl and a Fall Harvest Chopped Salad. There’s also a Miso Salmon Bento Box, G-Potle Taco Crunch Bowl and Mediterranean Hummus Bowl. Rounding out the menu are roasted chicken entrees, more gluten-free pastas and pizzas, salads and vegetable sides. The brownies and cookies are all gluten-free, and the seasonal dessert is Maple Pumpkin Bread.
