Guyana has signed an ‘open skies’ Air Services Agreement with Rwanda to encourage and facilitate airlines operating air services between the two countries, as well as to other nations, a Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCCA) release stated. The ceremony took place on Friday in Montreal, Canada, at the International Civil Aviation Organization 42nd Assembly and signing the Agreement on behalf of Rwanda was High Commissioner of Rwanda to Canada, Prosper Higiro, with Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret’d) Egbert Field, on behalf of Guyana. Both parties expressed a keen desire for this Agreement – which contained the standard articles on Grant of Rights, Designation and Authorization, Recogni-tion of Certificates and Licences, Safety, Aviation Security, Commercial Activities, Code Sharing, and Operational Flexibility – to create opportunities for airlines of both countries to expand their air connectivity. It also complements the more than 50 Air Services Agreements Guyana has established with other ICAO States to develop air connectivity among States.
