Two men were shot and wounded during a gun attack near the U.S. Embassy construction site in Maraval on Friday evening.
Police said around 6:40 p.m. residents of Valleton Avenue heard multiple gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a silver Nissan Tiida, registration riddled with bullet holes, and several spent 9mm and 5.56 shell casings on the ground.
Investigators reported that two masked gunmen, one dressed in a white hoodie and the other in a black hoodie, opened fire on two men, chasing them in different directions.
The first victim, 33-year-old Malcom Emanuel of Gonzales, ran into the U.S. Embassy construction site, where one of the gunmen pursued him, firing several shots. Emanuel was later found by St. Clair Mobile officers suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hand and a broken left leg. He was taken to Port of Spain General Hospital.
The second victim, 29-year-old Mykal Campbell of Morvant, was chased west along Valleton Avenue into a house. He was found by members of the Port of Spain Task Force with gunshot wounds to both legs and was also taken to hospital.
The gunmen escaped in a white Suzuki Ertiga, registration unknown.
