Veteran politician Gummadi Narsaiah, known for his long association with grassroots politics, served as the Member of Legislative Assembly for Yellandu across multiple terms between 1983 and 1994, and again from 1999 to 2009, winning as an Independent. Respected for his straightforward approach and focus on people’s issues, he remains one of the most recognisable names in Telangana’s political history. His life is now being adapted for the big screen in an upcoming biopic titled Gummadi Narsaiah, starring Kannada actor Dr Shiva Rajkumar in the lead role. The film marks the directorial debut of Parameshwar Hivrale, who moves behind the camera after working as an actor. It is produced by N. Suresh Reddy (NSR) under Pravallika Arts Creations, the banner’s first production. The makers unveiled the first look poster today, featuring Shiva Rajkumar in a restrained, realistic avatar. Dressed in a simple white kurta-pyjama with a red scarf, he is seen walking a bicycle along a road with the Assembly building in the backdrop. A red flag bearing the sickle and hammer symbol is attached to the bicycle, hinting at the leader’s left-leaning ideology. The concept video continues this theme, showing the protagonist entering the Assembly on a bicycle, with books tied to the back seat — a simple yet symbolic representation of Narsaiah’s modest lifestyle and his focus on education and equality. Director Parameshwar Hivrale appears intent on maintaining authenticity, with visuals reflecting the tone and texture of Narsaiah’s world. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Satish Mutyala, composer Suresh Bobbili, and editor Satya Giduturi, who together aim to recreate the social and political setting of the period. The shoot for this multilingual project will begin soon. Gummadi Narsaiah will release in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Centred on the journey of a man who built his political identity outside party lines, the film traces a story rooted in conviction and public service.
