In a recent development, French luxury conglomerate Kering revealed that hackers had stolen data of more than 7.4 million customers worldwide from its brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen. The attackers have been identified as the ShinyHunters group, who stole email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, and names of the people. That’s not it, as the hackers have also got access to spending records of these users that include spendings between $1,000 to more than $80,000. When Was The Breach Identified? The data breach was first identified by Kering in June 2025. It has already been cleared by the company that none of the financial details of the users, like bank account numbers, credit card details, and more, has been compromised. Furthermore, the brand has denied spilling out the beans on the regions that have been affected by the breach. However, the company has informed all the affected customers along with notifying the authorities in different countries. The Pattern Of Targeting Luxury Brands In 2025, hackers have changed the way they attack, along with changing the modus operandi. In April 2025, luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Cartier suffered a data breach that affected around 4,19,000 customers. As for the latest attack, ShinyHunter claimed responsibility for the same and wanted to engage in negotiations with Kering. Now, the company has already refused to negotiate, and the matter is being looked after by the law enforcement agencies.
