Guardamar launches youth training workshops in tourism and leisure

Guardamar del Segura has launched two new employment and training workshops aimed at helping young people gain professional experience while contributing to the community. The initiative, which will run for 12 months, is open to participants under the age of 30 and focuses on practical skills in two key local sectors: tourism and youth leisure activities. Under this year’s programme, ten students will train in ‘Promoción Turística’ Local (Local Tourism Promotion), while another ten will join ‘Dinamización de Actividades de Ocio y Tiempo Libre Infantil y Juvenil’ (Promoting Leisure and Free-Time Activities for Children and Young People). Both workshops are supported by GVA Labora, the Generalitat Valenciana’s employment service, and the Ayuntamiento de Guardamar del Segura. Investing in Youth and the Local Economy These workshops are designed to provide structured training that combines classroom learning with practical, community-based work. Participants will gain formal qualifications and hands-on experience, improving their employment prospects in areas that are especially relevant to Guardamar’s local economy – tourism, education, and social services. Guardamar del Segura, known for its beaches, cultural heritage, and growing tourism industry, benefits directly from these initiatives. By preparing young people for careers in tourism and leisure, the town not only boosts youth employability but also strengthens its service offering for residents and visitors. Skills That Matter Students in the tourism promotion course will learn how to design and manage local tourism initiatives, create visitor experiences, and promote Guardamar as a sustainable, welcoming destination. Meanwhile, those in the leisure and youth activities track will focus on organising educational and recreational programmes, helping children and teenagers engage in creative, healthy, and community-driven projects. Both pathways highlight teamwork, creativity, and social responsibility, ensuring that participants finish the year ready to enter the workforce with valuable skills and experience. Looking Ahead The Ayuntamiento de Guardamar del Segura has made youth training a central part of its local development plan. These workshops align with wider efforts to support education, prevent unemployment, and foster a skilled generation capable of leading the town’s future projects in tourism and community engagement. For the young participants, the next 12 months offer not just technical training, but a chance to build confidence, gain independence, and contribute to their community in meaningful ways. In a town where tourism meets tradition, these workshops are a reminder that investing in young people is investing in the future – a step towards ensuring that Guardamar del Segura continues to thrive, grow, and welcome visitors with the same warmth and professionalism that define its spirit.
