Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed once again, with highly anticipated game now set to launch in November 2026. It’s not the first time the game has been pushed back, with developer Rockstar Games initially set to release the new GTA title in Autumn 2025. It was then pushed back to May 26, 2026 earlier this year. It has been more than 13 years since GTA 5, the latest entry in the hugely popular series which was established in Scotland, was released in 2013. In a statement online, developers apologised for the additional delay. They wrote: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve. “We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.” READ MORE: Here's everything we know about Grand Theft Auto VI so far The statement was released on Thursday, November 7 alongside the quarterly earnings results of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive. In a note within the report, chairman and CEO of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick said: “Rockstar Games will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, and we remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.” The news amid a turbulent time for Rockstar, which has been accused of sacking more than 30 UK staff - including from their Scottish branches in Edinburgh and Dundee - in a “union busting” move. The claims from the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) have been contested by Rockstar who said that the staff were dismissed due to “gross misconduct”. A protest is also believed to have been held outside of the UK headquarters for Take-Two in London. Scotland-based staff shared their dismay at being fired by Rockstar, some with more than a decade in service to the company, with at least one worker now facing deportation. Grand Theft Auto was first announced with an Autumn 2025 launch date. Had Rockstar stuck to this release window, the game would likely be out already. However, it was pushed back until May 26, 2026 because developers wanted to “exceed expectations” of fans. Grand Theft Auto 6 has a new release date of Thursday, November 19. The Rockstar Games title will first be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. For PC gamers, there will be a longer wait for the game. But this isn’t anything new. GTA 5 wasn’t released on PC until 2015 – two years after the game’s initial launch.
