Elon Musk has officially launched Grokipedia, a new AI-generated encyclopedia designed to rival Wikipedia. The Tesla CEO says the goal of Grokipedia is simple: to create “the most truthful source of knowledge” on the internet. The billionaire announced its launch on X, writing, “Grokipedia.com version 0.1 is now live.” He further added that while this is an early version, “Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.” While the goal is to challenge Wikipedia’s dominance, early users have noticed that some Grokipedia articles include a note stating, “The content is adapted from Wikipedia, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License.” This means parts of its database are still built upon Wikipedia’s open data. How To Use Grokipedia Using Grokipedia is simple and doesn’t require a login. Users can visit Grokipedia.com and directly search for topics of interest. However, unlike AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini or even Grok itself, Grokipedia doesn’t support conversational prompts. Instead, it works like a search engine, you just type the name of the topic (for example, “Hauz Khas”) rather than phrasing it as a question like “Tell me about Hauz Khas.” Once you hit enter, Grokipedia displays AI-generated summaries and related information on the chosen topic.
