Greg Taylor has admitted that former Celtic teammate Giorgos Giakoumakis assisted in helping him settle in Greece. The pair spent a year and a half together in Glasgow’s East End under Ange Postecoglou but now play together with PAOK. Speaking to Premier Sports Scottish Football Social Club, Taylor was asked if the Greek striker had helped him with the culture shock from Glasgow to Thessaloniki. The fullback admitted that there has been some effort from Giakoumakis but that he’s since become more involved with fellow Greek players. “He started off helping me, and now he’s in with the Greek lads, and he can’t be bothered with me any more! “Giako’s a great lad. “I spoke to him before he came. “An amazing striker, so when he was talking of coming, I knew it would be a brilliant addition for the team first of all, and then obviously for me, for selfish reasons, it’s a familiar face. “It’s nice to have someone you know. “We’ve hung out a wee bit outside of football here and there. “We don’t get many days off in between the international breaks so there’s not all that many opportunities.” Taylor has another former Celtic player, Jonjoe Kenny, to settle in with. The former Everton and Hertha Berlin fullback spent the tail end of a season with Celtic with both Taylor and Kenny starting in the fullback berths. It is clear that the player hasn’t been necessarily enamoured with the move to Greece, playing just five times. Celtic have missed Taylor’s influence both on and off the pitch.
