The next council will play a critical role in making the plan to add 10,000 new units by 2030 a reality. We asked each mayoral candidate these three questions about the goal to add 10,000 homes in Greensboro. Candidate: We need to clean up our budgets before increasing taxes. Guilford County as a whole pays higher property taxes than comparable counties in our state. Candidate: Greensboro’s history with affordable housing gives us reason to be cautious. Candidate: My own condo reflects what’s possible: a community where people of different ages, backgrounds and life stages live together in shared space. Candidate: I believe we should focus on filling in the gaps, like the underused lots and spaces we already have, especially downtown and along key corridors.
