Herring, who played at Delaware last year, is a former Dartmouth product who, according to Jacob Westendorf of Sports Illustrated, is well-known for his intelligence. “Off the field, Herring is known for his brain, making the most of whatever opportunities are put in front of him, Westendorf wrote. “When he was in college at Delaware, he was a semifinalist for the William Campbell Trophy, which is better known as the Academic Heisman.” Per Westendorf, should football not work out for Herring, he still has plans to attend law school. In 2024, playing for Delaware, Herring had 30 tackles and an interception. He was invited to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl. He was also a team captain and was named All-CAA Second Team. He made some noise with the Packers during this past preseason due to his booming hit at the end of their exhibition game against the Indianapolis Colts
