GREATER AKRON — The high school football playoffs are underway as a few area teams competed in week one playoff games while Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Walsh Jesuit and Archbishop Hoban had a first-round bye. Green 21, Garfield Heights 6 Green is finding themselves peaking at the right time winning its last five games in a row. The Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never let Garfield Heights get back into the game. Green quarterback Tyson Hunka was 14-of-20 passing for 186 yards and threw three touchdowns. Evan Reed ran for 70 yards on 19 carries and caught two touchdowns in the game for Green. The Bulldogs will travel to face Austintown Fitch Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. Manchester 45, Edison 14 Manchester dominated Edison in the opening week of the playoffs as Phil Partin and Ayden Meade each had two touchdowns. Partin finished with 146 yards on 16 carries and Meade had 65 yards on 11 carries. Quarterback Tyler Pappas was 9-of-25 passing for 107 yards. Jake Livingston and Gavin Gindlesperger also each caught a touchdown for the Panthers. Defense also lifted Manchester as Cam Hostler snagged two interceptions and Trent Hodgkinson had one. Brycen Mauger also blocked a punt. Manchester will advance and travel to face Girard Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
