The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Monday carried out the inspection and deployment of 478 vehicles and other equipment across its 15 zones as part of preparations for the Northeast monsoon.
The equipment included 50 motor pumps, 594 submersible pumps, 500 tractor-mounted pumps, 150 diesel pumps with 100-HP capacity, three amphibian excavators, six robotic excavators, seven super sucker vehicles, 15 mechanised tree-cutting vehicles, 224 manual tree-cutting machines, 52 telescopic tree-cutting machines, five crane-fitted vehicles, seven earth movers, 60 bobcats, 93 tipper lorries, and a tele-handler vehicle. In addition to these, six tractors equipped with motor pumps are being kept on standby at Ripon Buildings.
