BRIGHTON, MI — A popular brewery in Brighton has closed after 15 months of operations. Grand River Brewery, formerly at 201 W. Main St., ceased operations Monday, Oct. 13, the Brighton general manager confirmed. The brewery formally announced its closure on social media Oct. 21, after an earlier post had “prematurely and without authorization” announced the change. “Thank you, Brighton, for welcoming us with open arms and being part of our story,” brewery staff wrote. “You’ll always be part of the Grand River Brewery family.” Stephanie Henley, general manager of the former Brighton spot, said the decision to close Grand River Brewery was on the corporate level and “above my head.” Grand River Brewery has three other locations in Jackson, Clawson and Marshall, all of which plan to remain open. The Brighton location of Grand River Brewery opened July 2024 in the former Ginopolis’ Bar-BQ Smokehouse location. Henley, 40, has since moved to the Clawson location and became the spot’s general manager on Monday, Oct. 20. She said two front house staff members also moved to the Clawson location. “It’s a great company to work for, so I definitely wanted to stay with them,” Henley, a Livingston County resident, said. “They’re very supportive of their employees and they’re very hands on with the business.” Grand River Brewery is known for serving steaks, burgers, sandwiches and a variety of other brunch, lunch and dinner options - alongside its beers.
