Graduates can now enter universities based on school exam results - Qalampir.uz

Graduates will be able to enter either technical colleges or universities based on their final school exam results from now on in Uzbekistan. This was announced today, September 15, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his meeting with teachers and mentors in the Bostanlik district of the Tashkent region.

’’The future of our people begins with school. The most long-lasting and, if necessary, decisive stage in educating and nurturing our children is school education,’’ the President said.

Currently, 6.5 million students are receiving education in schools. This year, nearly 400,000 students graduated, while 720,000 children were admitted to the first grade. Thanks to the construction of nearly 500 new schools over the past eight years and the expansion of existing ones, space has been created for an additional 1 million students.

Significant conditions have been created for private schools, providing parents with greater choice. Today, more than 200,000 children are studying in private schools.

It was also emphasized that a number of other important changes will be implemented in school education.

Starting from the new academic year, unified state exams will be introduced for 9th and 11th-grade students to guide them toward vocational or higher education based on their abilities. Through this system, nearly 400,000 9th-grade graduates will be enrolled in technical colleges.

Students who wish to continue their studies at school and enter universities will study subjects in depth according to their chosen fields.
