Legislative Assembly Speaker and MLA for Mangaluru U.T. Khader said here on Tuesday that the State government has sanctioned ₹90 crore, under different schemes, for repairing roads in his Assembly constituency.
The roads were damaged owing to heavy rains in the monsoon.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Khader said the grant will be used to repair Thokkottu-Mudipu, Abbakka Circle – Kotepura, Abbakka Circle – Kodi and Kotekar-Deralakatte roads. The road repair works will be taken up once the rains stop.
Mr. Khader said the State government has released grants for road repair works in other parts of Dakshina Kannada. District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will provide their Assembly constituency-wise details during his next visit to Mangaluru.
Elected representatives and representatives of various communities will be called on September 17 for the awareness programme on the socio-educational survey, which will be held across the State from September 22. Prior to the survey, he said people should be given handouts to enlighten them about the questions that will be asked by enumerators. People should patiently answer questions posed by teachers, who will record answers in the hand-held device that they will be carrying, Mr. Khader said.
