The State government has focussed its attention on exploring ways to enhance revenues from the revenue earning departments.
Senior officials of various departments have been directed to prepare reports on steps they proposed to enhance revenues of the respective departments. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to conduct an in-depth study on increasing revenue in Registration and Stamps department and submit a report within 15 days. “A special meeting should be organised in coordination with other departments linked to the Registration and Stamps department like HMDA, GHMC and Housing Board in this direction,” he said. The Chief Secretary was instructed to ensure effective coordination among the departments concerned so that revenue from registration and stamps could be enhanced.
The Deputy Chief Minister made the comments on Tuesday during a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation. The meeting reviewed the status of the committee constituted last year for increasing revenue through Registration and Stamps department as well as the report submitted by it.
Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka directed the Commercial Taxes department officials to hold circle wise review meetings to work out modalities for enhancing revenue from the department. He instructed the officials concerned to review commodities category wise besides studying the situation in other States to explore ways to increase revenues.
Officials should also identify the reasons behind the Transport department not achieving its targets and steps that should be initiated to overcome the problems. The government would formulate a special policy if necessary in this direction.
