will implement training programmes here The government is finalising the modalities and timelines for the implementation of a crude oil marketing training system where locals will be able to sell this country’s oil share, reducing the dependency on foreign marketers, Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat has said. “We are still finalising the structure and timelines… to set up a trading arm in Guyana so that we can trade our own crude, which will be more profitable,” Bharrat told Stabroek News. From 2027, Guyana is expected to be producing nearly one million barrels of oil per day (bpd) and by 2030 some 1.7 million bpd, which means that this country’s oil 50 per cent share will be significantly increased. President Irfaan Ali had first announced the initiative earlier this month at a Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry business meeting, as he underscored the diversification of the economy and weaning it off the dependence on foreign assistance in a number of areas.
