Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi. Chezhiaan on Friday (October 31, 2025) met Western Australia Minister for Commerce, International and Tertiary Education, and Citizenship and Multicultural Interests, Tony Buti, at the Secretariat and discussed possibilities of bilateral educational exchange programmes. A key focus area for the discussion was introducing advanced courses taught in Western Australia to colleges in Tamil Nadu to facilitate opportunities for students from the State to go to that region for higher studies. A press release stated that the two sides decided on drawing up a detailed action plan and reviewing it comprehensively before arriving at a decision. Present at the meeting were P. Shankar, Higher Education Secretary, Silai Zaki, Australian Consul General in Chennai, and Ian Martinus, Western Australia Investment and Trade Commissioner India-Gulf.
