Experiential education builds not only intellect but integrity and digital learning has redefined how we learn, breaking barriers of geography, privilege and opportunity, said Telangana Governor and Chancellor of the University Jishnu Dev Varma. Speaking at the second convocation ceremony of Satavahana University in Karimnagar on Friday (November 07), Mr. Jishnu Dev Varma said: “Each one of us must learn to live and work together, for collaboration is the cornerstone of collective progress.” He quoted some of the eminent writers and poets of India while highlighting the virtues such as perseverance and diligence that transforms effort into excellence. He said: “As you embrace global knowledge, never lose touch with your local roots. Let the fragrance of Telangana’s soil linger in your triumphs across the world. To every rural student before me — your journey is living proof that merit thrives in modest beginnings, and perseverance remains the greatest equalizer.” “The future of Telangana depends on your innovation and integrity — for it is upon your shoulders that a Viksit Bharat and a just world shall rise,” the University Chancellor said. Education today is no longer confined to chalk and board, it breathes through technology, nurtures through experience and thrives on adaptability, he noted, highlighting the importance of skill and continuous learning. This young university pulses with promise and potential and I urge the university to strive for NAAC accreditation and NIRF ranking which are gateways to greater recognition, resources and growth, he said. The Governor concluded his speech with former President of India late APJ Abdul Kalam’s famous quote “Education gives you wings to fly — and the courage to fly higher.” In his convocation address, University of Hyderabad Vice Chancellor B. J. Rao said in a short span of less than two decades, Satavahana University has become a vital centre of learning and higher education in the northern region of Telangana. It stands as a shining example of how universities can serve as agents of transformation and empowerment, he noted. Reeling out the statistics of the university’s academic achievements, he said the university continues to expand its academic horizons through the introduction of new courses such as M. Pharmacy, LL. B, and B. Tech programmes. He urged the university to continue evolving as a research-driven, innovation-oriented and socially responsive university with a thrust on digital transformation and innovation in pedagogy. Ph.D. degrees were conferred on scholars and gold medals were awarded to meritorious students across various disciplines on the occasion. Satavahana University was established in 2008. A total of 156 colleges are currently affiliated to the university, offering various UG, PG and professional courses.
