Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other tech and social media enthusiasts, will be speaking and receiving awards at the sixth edition of the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH), themed ‘Social media and AI influence: Transforming yourself, services and the society’, and scheduled for November 21 – 23 in Lagos. Spanning three days and holding at the University of Lagos and the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, the event, which has aroused the attention of tech and digital media enthusiasts, is a thought leadership hangout that will redefine how social media and artificial intelligence are perceived. The convener of BSMH, Bodex Hungbo, stated that the grand finale of the hangout, which would be held at Radisson Blu Hotel, would feature the Bodex Media Awards ceremony, celebrating individuals and brands who have leveraged social media, innovation, and influence for social good. “The awards segment not only honours outstanding achievements but also reinforces the core vision of the Bodex brand, which is celebrating ethical influence, creativity, and leadership across generations,” she said. Governor Sanwo-Olu, who would deliver a keynote speech, will receive the ‘Most Friendly Digital Media Governor of the Year Award’. Apart from Gov Sanwo-Olu, other distinguished awardees include: Dr Seye Kehinde for Lifetime Media Excellence Award of the Year, Denrele Edun for Icon of Influence Award, Kolade Mayowa Bolade for Most Innovative Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year, Ademusoro Emmanuel for Breakthrough Skit Maker of the Year, Erem Emeka Nehemiah for Animation Brand of the Year, Adeyemo Biliqis Omolade for Strategic Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year, Obembe Oluwatosin Femi for Creative Leadership and Innovation of the Year, and others whose contributions continue to shape the digital landscape with creativity, purpose, and excellence. Hungbo noted that the theme of the hangout reflects the growing intersection between innovation, influence, and integrity in today’s connected world. She said that — from academic insights to creative empowerment, from governance dialogue to recognition of excellence — BSMH 6.0 is setting the standard for how social media and technology can transform lives, industries, and societies. Hungbo revealed that Day One of the event, which will be held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), will feature conversations around ethics, education, and youth empowerment in the AI era. Speakers would include Professor Oloruntola Sunday, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (UNILAG), UNILAG; Lady Lola Adey, AI consultant; Bosun Osifowora, legal practitioner; Dr Akin Olaniyan, the convener of the Centre for Social Media Research; among others who are exploring the future of digital literacy. Day Two of the event, which will be held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, would feature a panel session that would be moderated by Bodex Hungbo and Lanre Basamta, themed ‘The future is now: Youth, tech, and purpose’. Panelists would include Thelma Lawson, Roseanne Chikwendu, and other rising changemakers redefining the next digital generation. Keynote speakers for Day Two would include Mr Gbenga Omotoso, Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State; Mr Kayode Akintemi, MD/CEO, News Central TV; Dr Kelechi Okoro, founder, Plan Am Well; Dr Seye Kehinde, media entrepreneur; and Mr Bamidele Olamilekan, principal partner, Lekan Bamidele & Co. Other panel sessions would be moderated by Dr Barr. Uzoamaka Orakwue and Osayuwamen Saleh, with speakers including Lady Bimbo Akintola, Chinonso Ukah, Mr Temitope Ajayi, Sola Fajobi, Ayodeji Olufolahan, Omolabake Fatayo, Obembe Oluwatosin Femi, and others.
