Google Takes It To Supreme Court Against Epic Games After Constant Losses In Lower Courts

Google vs Epic could be dubbed one of the biggest battles in the tech and gaming industry. And after failing to make an impact in the lower courts, Google has now moved to the Supreme Court against the rulings of the lower courts. Google has already put a stamp on the fact that it is going to appeal its case in the Supreme court. That’s not it, as Google is also asking the Supreme court to impose a halt on the permanent injunction that would snatch the control from the company. For those who are unaware, on September 12, 2025, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed that permanent injunction and gave Google until October to stop forcing app developers to rely on Google Play Billing for all the payments. Instead, Google has been asked to let the publishers adopt new ways of collecting payments and set their own prices. What Can We Expect From Supreme Court? Sean Hollister from The Verge said that the Supreme Court could view the matter in a pretty different light. Google has already stated that it will fully appeal to the Supreme Court for certiorari by October 27, 2025. In addition, the tech giant will be asking the Supreme Court to decide whether it’ll press pause on the injunction by October 17, 2025.
