Besides other incoming updates, the Google Play Store now lets you directly buy digital gift cards on Android.
If rolled out for you, open the profile menu for a new “Gift cards” item in-between Payments & subscriptions and Play Protect.
A carousel highlights “Top brands,” including Google Play with values ranging from $15 to $100. Gift cards for Retail, Fashion, Beauty, Dining, Entertainment, Home, Travel, and Electronics are available.
After selecting one, you can choose several virtual designs and the amount. “Delivery” involves entering the recipient’s email address, while you can add a “Gift message.” Said recipient will get a gift card link via email (or text message).

Google is working with Blackhawk Network on this integration. Gift cards will be surfaced “across search, key in-app placements and personalized promotions, including curated deals that spotlight premier brands.”
“Bringing digital gift cards into the Play Store means users can now discover, purchase and send value without jumping between apps or sites, offering a straightforward way for brands to connect with them in a trusted environment,” said Fernanda Murphy, Global Head of Retail & Payments Marketing at Google Play.
