Swiggy, one of the biggest food delivery giants in India, has launched a new application for affordable food options in Pune. The app, named “Toing”, will only serve in certain locations of Pune for now. The app will majorly target the price-conscious consumers in Pune, including students and young professionals. This time, Swiggy has launched the trial in Pune, instead of Bengaluru, which is a prime location for every app launch. According to observers, it is because of the city’s demographics, large student population and young working class. What will Toing offer? The app, which is already live on the App Store and Play Store, offers meals starting at Rs 100. The app will work independently from Swiggy’s main application and will serve affordable meal options, including everyday healthy meals. It might serve as a direct competition to Rapido’s food delivery service Ownly, which costs Rs 25 commission from the restaurants. The app named ‘Toing’, however, does not promise to deliver food in less time than the Snacc delivery app. Other launches by Swiggy include Snacc, Instamart, Pyng, Crew, and Dineout. The app, unlike its signature Orange theme, has a green and pink colour scheme to appeal to and target the younger audience.
