The Finance Minister said that GST has completely transformed India’s tax system. The concept of “One Nation, One Tax, One Market” not only simplified taxation but also strengthened the economy. GST has increased the number of taxpayers and formalized businesses. According to a CNBC report, this has strengthened the foundation for the country’s economic progress. The Finance Minister praised the GST Council, which comprises representatives from the central and state governments. He said that the Council has continuously improved the system through dialogue and reforms. He also thanked the state ministers who helped implement the new reforms.

Ease of doing business will increase

The GST Appellate Tribunal began functioning on September 22nd. This tribunal will play a crucial role in expediting dispute resolution, reducing court backlogs, and gaining taxpayer confidence. The Finance Minister stated that this system will enhance the ease of doing business. Previously, states often had differences over tax rules and decisions, which required the GST Council to intervene.

Now, this tribunal will have features like digital filing, virtual hearings, and guidance workshops, which will reduce legal hassles. Referring to the automobile sector, the Finance Minister also highlighted the benefits of GST. She said that the auto sector saw record sales and bookings in the first two days of GST implementation. This is the result of a decade of hard work and good policies that have boosted business. Sitharaman stated that GST is not a one-time achievement, but a process that is constantly improving and improving. This system will be a crucial part of India’s economic future.
