Gomoa East: MP, Chiefs Unite Against Illegal Sand Winning at Fetteh Sea Shores

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa East Constituency, Desmond De Graft Paitoo, has raised serious concerns over the growing menace of illegal sand winning along the sea shores of Gomoa Fetteh in the Gomoa East District, warning that the activity poses a major threat to lives and property.
Joining forces with the chiefs of the area, the MP pledged his support in the fight against those behind the destructive practice in order to avert future disasters.
Speaking at the Gomoa Fetteh Ahorba-Kɛse Durbar, Hon. Paitoo cautioned that unchecked sand winning activities could expose more than 20 communities—including Kasoa township—to the devastating effects of coastal erosion and other natural disasters.
The lawmaker also commended the chiefs of Gomoa Fetteh for setting up a Customary Lands Secretariat to address persistent land disputes in the area. He further appealed to the traditional leaders to help curb the activities of land guards, noting that eliminating such practices would create a safer environment and attract investors for development.
