In a viral TikTok video, a dog owner from North Carolina shared her golden retriever’s reaction to adopting her best friend, and internet users can’t cope with it. The clip, shared in October by 21-year-old Ashtyn Hawthorne, under the username @cashmoney_ashh, shows her pup Sadie Mae, looking out the door while her new brother, Rio, finally gets home, wagging her tail as if she can no longer wait to play with him. “The moment that our dog realized we rescued the foster dog that she had a playdate with,” the caption says, “they are best friends now.” Hawthorne told Newsweek that Sadie Mae was their only dog for four years before adoption Rio, but she immediately bonded with him and now they’re inseparable. A screenshot of the viral clip shows Sadie Mae welcoming her new rescue brother home. Hawthorne said: “We adopted Rio from a local golden retriever rescue. He was rescued from Kosovo at 1 years old. When he was rescued, he had heartworm and was super shy. He was in and out of multiple foster homes before we met him. “When we met him, we fell in love at first sight and so did our Sadie Mae. This video is a video of him finally coming home to his forever home.” Hawthorne is a big golden lover, and she even owns a golden retriever merchandise business that helps pups in need find their forever home. Sadie Mae and Rio had only met once before the video was filmed—they had a playdate that went well and led the poster to signing his adoption papers. “We have had Rio for going on two years now and he has adapted wonderfully. He is a big cuddle bug and loved to play fetch. He has such a big and sweet personality. Him and Sadie Mae have become best friends!” Hawthorne said. @cashmoney_ashh they are bestfriends now🥹🥹 #adoptdontshop #rescuedog #goldenretriever @Sadie Mae & Rio ♬ original sound – songlyricss87 The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received almost 700,000 views and over 137,600 likes on the platform. Who’s cutting onions stop it I can’t.” Nickey added: “I rescued a Shih Tzu that looks exactly like the one that passed. My dog is so excited and thinks it’s him returning.” Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
