Goldbod Jewellery inaugurates new board to drive value addition to Ghana’s gold

By: Magdalene Andoh A new five-member board has been inaugurated to steer the affairs of Goldbod Jewellery, with a clear mandate to add value to Ghana’s gold and position the company as a leader in jewellery production and marketing. The board is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Ghana Gold Board, Samuel Gyamfi, and includes Gertrude Emefa Donkor, Managing Director of Goldbod Jewellery; Richard Kwamena Prah, a jewellery manufacturer; Dr. Edem Cudjoe Amengor, a Chartered Banker and Economist; and Adwoa Amankwaah Boateng Appiah, a marketing consultant. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Ministry of Finance, where the Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, administered the oath of office and secrecy on behalf of the sector minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. In his remarks, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of value addition to Ghana’s natural resources, stressing that the board must lead efforts to maximize the economic benefits of the country’s vast gold reserves. “Ghana has been blessed with abundant gold resources, but we’ve not fully realized the benefits we should derive from them. With initiatives like Goldbod Jewellery, we are beginning to see positive change as we work to add real value to our gold,” he stated. On behalf of the new board, Chairman Samuel Gyamfi expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in them. He assured that the board would work diligently to make Ghana’s gold and other precious mineral industries more attractive and beneficial to citizens. “We are committed to transforming the sector and ensuring that the gold business becomes a source of pride and opportunity for every Ghanaian,” he affirmed.
