Gogglebox legends unrecognisable in throwback 1980s snap but can you guess who?

Gogglebox fans were left doing a double-take after a married couple shared a throwback snap. Beloved South London couple Sue and Steve joined the long-running Channel 4 show back in 2019 - and it’s fair to say it didn’t take them long to become firm favourites with fans. Over the years, Steve, a retired black cab driver, and Sue, who is semi-retired, have had viewers in stitches thanks to their hilarious one-liners and comical takes on the telly highlights. Away from the programme, the pair - who have been married for over four decades - are also doting parents to two daughters and are also grandparents to grandson Roman. Sue and Steve are also no strangers to keeping their 5k Instagram followers updated on their day-to-day life. And this week, the couple delighted fans by sharing a throwback photo. In the snap, taken in the 1980s, Sue and Steve could be seen posing for the camera, looking noticeably younger. They captioned the post: “The way we were #somanyyearsago #younglove #the80s #greattimes #dinnerdances #carefree." Meanwhile, fans rushed to the comments section to gush over the “gorgeous” couple. One person said: “You both look amazing then and now. Love you both on Gogglebox.” A second chimed in on the platform and quipped: “Great pic. Steve's punching here.” Someone else wrote: “What a gorgeous picture of you both. Lovely couple.” Echoing their thoughts, Gogglebox co-star Ellie Warner penned: “Youngs love dream.” In terms of health, Sue took some time off from Gogglebox in 2024, later candidly sharing with viewers her ordeal with Bell's Palsy, which caused her temporary facial paralysis. She opened up to her audience about the challenges following her diagnosis, revealing that she's had to "relearn" certain basic actions. Sue said: "One is to speak through the side of my mouth, and the other one is chewing. Chewing takes a long time." Steve quipped: "I have offered to chew your food for you, but you declined. I've gotta say, you haven't lost the sharp side of your tongue though, have you?" Bell's Palsy is a neurological disorder that causes temporary weakness or lack of movement on one side of the face. The condition can, on rare occasions, spread to both sides of the face, while more typical symptoms include a drooping eyelid or corner of your mouth, dry mouth or drooling, loss of taste and a dry or watering eye. Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
