Gogglebox's Elaine now after 10-week 'bleed on brain' and leaving Channel 4 show

A cherished Gogglebox personality previously endured a terrifying 10-week 'brain haemorrhage' and courageously spoke about her experience - but what's happened to her since? Former music educator Elaine became part of the hit series in 2023 alongside her son Seb. It's safe to say the pair quickly won over viewers with their charm. During 2024 however, supporters grew concerned that Elaine and Seb, hailing from the Forest of Dean, had departed the programme after vanishing from our screens. Nevertheless, in 2025, Elaine courageously revealed details of her frightening medical emergency following a haemorrhagic stroke that resulted in bleeding on her brain. Speaking in May, Elaine disclosed how she suddenly experienced complete sight loss whilst driving. Prior to this alarming episode, Elaine had been experiencing memory lapses - though she attributed this to advancing age and fatigue, reports the Mirror . Yet she remained unaware that she had sustained brain bleeding from a haemorrhagic stroke, which had persisted for 10 weeks before the incident occurred. Describing how she felt "completely shocked and heartbroken" upon learning the diagnosis, Elaine told Need To Know: "I struggled to make sense of the world around me." Elaine continued: "They told me part of my brain had been irreversibly damaged. And as there wasn't anything they could do, this was just who I was now." Her diagnosis came in April 2024 after undergoing a CT scan and MRI. Elaine has subsequently developed double vision and left-sided paralysis. She was forced to surrender her driving licence and employment as well. Speaking about her health condition, she said: "It's had such a huge impact on my life. I've had to accept that I must use a wheelchair for anything other than moving very short distances." These days, Elaine keeps her followers updated on her daily life through her social media page, whilst also raising awareness for disabilities. Recently, she shared her experience of attending a concert on Instagram, stating: "I've gone to gigs all my adult life. What stops me now? I can't stand anymore, I can't stand for long periods of time." Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
