“God placed me in politics to make a difference” — Adutwum inspires Sunyani PIWC members

Former education minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has said he entered politics to make the impossible possible, citing his record of transforming junior high schools with modern science and engineering laboratories.

Speaking to members of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Sunyani on Sunday (5 October) Adutwum said his vision was to push Ghana’s development through education and innovation, if given the opportunity to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the country.

“When I became the Minister for Education, I decided to do what was impossible. We were building junior high schools that have biology, chemistry, physics and engineering labs,” he said.

“When God gives you a chance within the political space, you have to do what others cannot do — that is the value you bring.”

The NPP flagbearer hopeful said he was offering himself to lead the party with a focus on ideas rather than insults, promising a campaign centred on vision and development.

“My party is looking for somebody to lead, and I have offered myself to run as flagbearer. When you put me there in 2028, we are going to contest the presidential campaign with ideas, not insults,” Adutwum said.

Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s rise, he added, “I know how Singapore became developed. We will overcome poverty — by the grace of God.”
