The No. 1 team retains its spot in this week’s Globe’s Top 20 boys’ soccer poll, but there is a new No. 2 team in the rankings.
Top-ranked St. John’s Prep impressed in a 3-0-0 week, while Needham usurped Oliver Ames for the No. 2 spot with the Rockets out to an attack-powered 4-0-1 start with 15 goals through five games.
Concord-Carlisle moves back into the top 5, having bounced back strongly from a season-opening loss to No. 9 Bishop Feehan. Weymouth also moves up to No. 6 with the Wildcats producing two 3-0 wins over Bay State foes.
Other risers include No. 11 BC High (up two spots) and No. 14 Lexington (three spots). New entrants No. 15 Arlington, No. 16 Framingham, and No. 20 Attleboro have impressed through the opening two weeks of the season. Records based on scores reported to the Globe.
