Globe Top 20 boys’ soccer poll: Needham earns a move up

The top two teams, Oliver Ames and St. John’s Prep, retain their spots in the Globe’s latest Top 20, but there’s a new team at No. 3. Needham jumps back up to join the top three, a spot the Rockets held at the early stages of the season, after defeating No. 4 Framingham and handing the Flyers their first loss. BC High moves up to No. 9 after a strong week in the Catholic Conference, which boasts three teams in the top 10. Arlington makes its first appearance in the top 10 this year, as the Spy Ponders continue to roll in Middlesex League competition having won seven straight games. Franklin and Duxbury each move up to No. 16 and 17, respectively, at the back end. New Bedford makes its first appearance of the year at No. 18 after the Whalers continued an impressive season by defeating No. 19 Hingham, 3-0, Saturday.
