Global entry becoming easier as new office for CHS opens in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – International travelers wanting to skip out on long passport lines finally have the relief they are looking for in the Lowcountry.
For years, South Carolinians had to travel state to state like Atlanta or Charlotte to the nearest depots.
But Wednesday, officials are cutting the ribbon on a new and long-awaited facility. For years, South Carolinians had to travel out of state, heading to places like Atlanta or Charlotte to the nearest depots.
This is the first mid-sized airport nationwide to receive this amenity.
Global entry expedites entry into the U.S. for pre-approved international travelers by checking in at a kiosk instead of passport lines, similar to TSA pre-check.
The new office on Porsche Boulevard allows applicants to complete their in-person interview that lasts around 10 minutes.
Many frequent flyers are very excited about this.
Global entry comes as many airlines are trying to offer more international flights out of Charleston.
The ribbon cutting is happening in front of the new facility at 11 a.m.
