Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson reveals the key factor that led his explosive performance in Week 2 vs. the Cowboys

It’s been a long time coming for New York Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson to emerge as an explosive, big-play threat. Since he was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Robinson was labelled as a potential breakout candidate in New York. Giants fans eagerly awaited his coming-out party, but it never really came. Finally, against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, he exploded for 142 yards and one touchdown on eight receptions. And according to Robinson, it was the culmination of his growing relationship with quarterback Russell Wilson.”From the moment that Russ got here,” Robinson told reporters, “he was like, ‘Dude, I know you can get down the field. I’ve seen it.’ We worked out together, and he was like, ‘I didn’t even know you could run that well just from watching the tape from previous games.’ So, he was like, ‘We’re going to make sure that this gets going.'”

Wan’Dale Robinson shines in Week 2

Coming out of Kentucky, Robinson was viewed as a speedy and shifty receiver with the potential to be a 1,000-yard target in an offense. His role with the team in his first three years seemed to underutilize his tools. With the previous quarterback, Daniel Jones, being apprehensive about taking deep shots, there weren’t many opportunities for Robinson to shine.

That changed on Sunday, and Robinson acknowledged it after the 40-37 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in which the team had 450 passing yards. He pointed out the deep ball precision that Wilson possesses.

“All those throws were pretty crazy,” said Robinson, “those deep balls were dropping just right in the bucket. We were watching it, and it was just like Russ is putting them where we’ve got to catch it. We have no other choice. We’ve just, like I said, got to continue to work and continue to build that chemistry with him.”

Week 1 for the Giants was a frustrating performance as the team failed to score a touchdown against the Washington Commanders. The Giants finally scored their first touchdown of the year when Wilson uncorked a 29-yard pass to Malik Nabers with 5:37 to go in the fourth quarter.
