The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting foreign investment in the country’s digital and development sectors, highlighting opportunities for UAE investors to collaborate with Ghana on strategic initiatives.
Speaking during a meeting with His Excellency Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al Marzooqi, Chairman of the Al Marzooqi Group, Minister George emphasized that the government encourages credible private sector investment in areas such as data centres, cybersecurity, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence. He noted that while Ghana already operates a national data centre, there remains significant space for private entities to establish facilities serving banks, telecoms, and other industries, provided licensing requirements are met.
The Minister highlighted blockchain technology as a key focus, particularly for digitizing land records at the Lands Commission to reduce disputes and enhance transparency. He also outlined plans to establish a centralised Security Operations Centre (SOC) to coordinate cybersecurity efforts across financial services, telecoms, energy, and government institutions.
His Excellency Al Marzooqi, who also advises members of the Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah Royal Families, explained that his visit to Ghana from 30th September to 8th October 2025 aims to build a business bridge between Ghana and the UAE. He expressed the Group’s interest in introducing container-based data centres, AI-driven solutions for education, and advanced cybersecurity approaches.
Al Marzooqi assured that the Al Marzooqi Group is committed to supporting Ghana’s development by aligning its projects with national priorities and noted that similar initiatives are being explored in India and Germany.
This engagement underscores Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the UAE while fostering growth in the country’s digital economy.
