'Genius' Apple TV+ sitcom hailed 'the best ever' leaves fans emotional

A “genius” Apple TV+ sitcom that has been hailed “the best ever” has left fans emotional. Created by Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller, Platonic unites two comedy icons in a brilliant series that explores adult friendships. Bad Neighbours co-stars Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen portray Sylvia and Will, former university friends who reunite after Will’s divorce. Will operates a brewpub and previously fell out with Sylvia when she disapproved of his choice of bride. Over the years, the duo have built completely different existences. Will remains a lively, pub-focused character who spends his days with his friends and business colleagues, whilst Sylvia has become a housewife raising three kids with a devoted spouse, reports the Express . When the pair revive their bond, their relationship quickly disrupts their contrasting worlds in an utterly memorable way. Alongside Byrne and Rogen, the underrated sitcom also features Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale , Andrew Lopez, and Carla Gallo. Platonic debuted on Apple TV+ in 2023, before securing a second series renewal several months afterwards. The fresh episodes arrived on the platform last month, returning Will and Sylvia to centre stage as they both transform their professional lives and personal identities. The programme quickly received critical acclaim, achieving an impressive 96% score on review site Rotten Tomatoes, whilst viewers awarded the comedy an 80% rating. Platonic is a must-watch for those who enjoy sitcoms, friendships and a good dose of mischief. The show has been well-received by viewers, with many taking to social media to express their admiration. “I think the writing in this show was phenomenal. Great acting, realistic and hilarious. I couldn’t get enough of this show and need many, many more seasons!” one viewer shared on IMDb. Another chimed in: “I love this show. I love anything with Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen, they make great comedy together. I literally laugh out loud at some of the antics. This is a feel good show.” A third fan declared: “This is the best comedy on Apple TV. Rose Byrne is a comic genius. It’s also got depth, which is unusual for a slapstick comedy, but that’s what makes it class. Heart and humour. Winning combo. This is comic heaven.” A fourth echoed these sentiments, stating: “Loved Platonic. It revisits When Harry Met Sally, which was such a throwback! I really love friend films or episodes so it made me teary-eyed.” Platonic is available to stream on Apple TV
